Acne Studios’ spring 2025 menswear collection, designed by Jonny Johansson, delivers a playful, avant-garde approach to fashion.
Acne Studios has always been a safe haven for fashion’s freaks and geeks, but everyone has to grow up sometime. Jonny Johansson’s spring collection was rooted in the obsessions of adolescence, with the idea of using clothing to project yourself as a superhero.
But he wasn’t talking about teenagers chewing mastic gum to chisel their jawline, or other look maxing tricks. Choreographer Jordan Robson flexed his toned limbs in the look book, equally at ease in baggy pants as in flimsy miniskirts that exposed acres of thigh!
An eclectic mix of elements, such as superheroes, fetish wear, and ’90s influences, showcase the brand’s daring approach to menswear. Some of the standout pieces include sheer trench coats, oversized canvas pants, and shredded knit crop tops, all of which blend fluidity and masculinity.
One of the key themes of the collection is using fashion as a form of armor. Johansson collaborated with DC Comics to incorporate iconic female characters like Wonder Woman and Catwoman into the designs, symbolizing empowerment. In addition, the collection embraces fetish-inspired materials with pieces like silicone-piped suits and short shorts, all while maintaining Acne Studios’ signature risk-taking aesthetic.
The combination of nostalgic and contemporary influences makes this collection a bold statement, pushing the boundaries of traditional menswear.
This spring 2025 collection will only be available in a few months. But meantime you can shop for their current collection at MYTHERESA, Shopbop, and at SSENSE.
