Marc Jacobs has teamed up with legendary street artist, Futura, for a special 40th-anniversary capsule collection.
This collaboration showcases a fusion of Futura’s iconic graffiti aesthetic with Marc Jacobs’ classic pieces. The collection includes items like The Tote Bag, The Snapshot, unisex denim, hoodies, and ready-to-wear clothing. All are adorned with Futura’s signature abstract artwork.
The campaign features big names like J Balvin, Paloma Elsesser, and Futura himself, and will include pop-up events in major cities like New York, London, Beijing, and Japan.
FUTURA2000, the abstract artist and subway graffiti master was one of the first, along with Basquiat and Haring, to introduce street art to the institutions in the ’80s. He kicked off an illustrious career of creating collab grails with everyone from Supreme to Murakami to Rei Kawakubo.
Futura’s collaboration with Marc Jacobs features a variety of unisex pieces, This capsule is all about printed splatters and swirls of paint. A nod to Futura’s longtime graffiti artworks, as well as the artist’s ties to streetwear culture.
This fashion collection is also accompanied by a major exhibition of Futura’s work, “FUTURA 2000: BREAKING OUT,” which opened at The Bronx Museum on September 8. The exhibition adds depth to the collaboration, celebrating Futura’s artistic legacy alongside the fashion release.
