For Spring/Summer 2026, McQueen’s creative director, Seán McGirr, delivered a provocative, visceral, and narrative-rich collection.
Drawing inspiration from the horror moviem The Wicker Man, the fashion show explored themes of primal instinct, liberation of desire, and the tension between nature and civilized order. A dramatic conceptual underpinning visible throughout the clothes (video below)
So, about the denim in the Spring 2026 Story:
One of McQueen’s most iconic creations, the ultra-low-rise pants were the foundation for Seán McGirr’s spring collection, which brimmed with erotic tension.
I’m sure, many of you guys remember McQueen’s Fall/Winter 1996/97, when he came up with the iconic “bumster” shape!
Well then for this collection, McGirr paired his denim with everything from military-style jackets to frilled corsets or a cropped chainmail top. He also worked the swooping waistbands into skirts, bandeau shorts and cargo pants, some with open zips for added exposure.
Leaned heavily into ultra-low-rise silhouettes, reviving the above mentioned bumster shape, applied across everything from pants to skirts and jeans-inspired bottoms.
Shredded white denim was used as a fabric for skirts and pants and faded blue denim was styled alongside sharp tailoring to create a contrast between casual and refined.
Bottom line: The Spring 2026 collection emphasized ultra-low-rise silhouettes, with denim bottoms blending into McQueen’s signature dramatic and sensual language.
