Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2027 collection, designed by Pharrell Williams, has two interesting denim directions.
1. Indigo denim with a 3-D mud effect
This is probably the most important denim look. The collection features a medium blue denim jacket and matching jeans, finished with a raised 3-D printed “mud” effect around the edges. It’s essentially clean indigo denim transformed through technology and surface treatment.
2. “Leather denim”
Another feature is leather constructed/treated to look like denim, with the wash laser-drawn into comic-like travelogue panels. This pushes denim into the realm of trompe-l’œil and luxury material experimentation rather than traditional jeans.
The fits move between slightly oversized and gently shrunken, rather than overtly baggy or skinny. The denim set is relatively substantial and workwear-inspired.
Worth mentioning is the fact that LV is not relying on distressing or exaggerated rips to make the denim fashion-forward. Instead, the innovation is coming from surface treatment and fabrication.
